Hope is not lost in Houston,TX. Many searchers think that this one cannot be found due to changes at Herman park after Byron was there in the 80's. I hope I can reignite the excitement about the secret very soon. This hunt is just as challenging as the Fenn treasure. It may not be as valuable, but you still get the satisfaction of solving the riddle. If you can solve more than one, the reward will add up. The remaining casque are very possible. You need to extensive research to complete the solves. Many people post that they know where one is, but we do not see the actual booty that comes out of the ground. I will add myself to this list by stating that I have located the Houston casque. I am hiring a ground penetrating radar service that is not cheap. Everything about the location matches up to the art and the verse. This will happen soon because my excitement is hard to hold in. I plan to not open it up until we go live on Cowlazars. New Orleans is next. It is not where they think it is.

I feel that the value is relative to whomever has, or wants possession. The casque alone will go for that much at an auction. It is one of a kind and has been buried for almost forty years. I imagine I will want to keep it. As for the difficulty of the Houston solve? It was difficult, and I went down every single rabbit hole I could find. Byron put all the answers in the artwork. He had to give the exact location from all angles for these to be found. The adventure is worth every penny, and I would gladly pay to go on vacation to look for lost treasure. I did not see the New Orleans casque. I know that a guy thinks it is tangled in live oak roots. Plexiglass does not crack like regular glass. It is probably an old bottle. I agree with the suburban environment difficulty. Although I firmly believe he put these in a place that would not be disturbed for a long time. I did a walk through on the Chicago solve last year when I went to Lallapalooza. The location by the fence post was a great spot that would not be tampered with. About 50 yards from Jackson street, and train tracks on the other side of the fence. TTOTC is over and it took ten years. The Secret is going on almost 40 years. I feel that once everyone realizes the detail and effort put into the artwork, and verses, it will leave a lasting legacy for many years to come.Comment

The book is very important for this hunt. If you can afford the first addition I would get it. I don't know if I have seen one for less than 950.00. There are many clues to assist with your solves. There was one specific drawing that lead me in the direction I have taken. There is a lot of information about the fair people. I recommend researching the fair people that are relative to the area you are searching. The book tells you what country they are from and where they reside in the United States. Enjoy!Comment

I have looked at this one and I would agree that it is likely lost... The 982 train was moved to Tombal. The Friendship gazebo was relocated in the park. The central reflection pool was deepened and is now bordered with concrete walkways. They added a Japanese Garden... Zoo enlarged. Golf coarse renovated. Parking lots destroyed.. 2 were in picture and 2 were in verse.... Nope, It is a time past!Comment

I totally understand your observation. I will now say that it is not at Hermann park. This is the starting point in the map to the treasure. This park was really popular in the early eighties. Many of the interesting features at the park are essential clues to the story. Preiss would of had a difficult time trying to bury anything with all of the people there day and night. This is only my opinion and you could be right, but I found a location that just hit me when I got there. It puts you in the art and it is spot on with geographical features.Comment

The train is very important and only relevant to the starting point. The art below the Jinn looks like it could be train tracks. Looks more like stitching to me. It is a clue that guides me to the Atropos key in front of Miller Outdoor Theater. Atropos the goddess of death who is one of the three sisters of fate. Train tracks on a map usually have two parallel lines with lines in the middle. The Jinn gives three wishes. Three winged and slight. Three is very important clue.Comment

I think I have solved this puzzle..... It is in an area that has not changed in 40 years....the 982 train is only a Hermann Park Confirmation aspect... I you live in Texas and want to team on this..... PM me.... We are only talking a $1000 ruby... A key and a cask probably another $1000.... I live Tx and would like to try one spot with whomever.... That sounds like a lot of fun. I am all about covert operations and the cover of darkness. I got plenty of practice in the U.S. military. It does help to have a team mate to think, and come up with a strategy. I hope you have the right spot. I say go out there and get it no matter what time of day. Just be sure of your spot so you don't waist your chance to get in and out. If you are an archaeologist then I will reconsider your offer. If you have this title then you will not get fined by the city for digging. I must admit it will be hard to work on someones' solve that is different than mine. I am close to my dig date and there is no turning back now. I am looking for someone I can trust to help me with the others, and some other treasures buried in the area. Texas has almost 250 lost treasure stories that have not been solved. Only one person can keep a secret. That is why there is so much lost treasure. Even Preiss kept it to himself. Good luck!Comment
