Most of them thar birds looked like there butts were too heavy and they needed to drop a load.
Ain't no bad landings if you make it down alive - just maybe unprofessional ones.
And prob depends on the condition of the landing strip too.
Pilots with lighter loads always get the breaks.

I could see wading through water being an issue or even taking a raft across briefly because 99 percent of the trip is walking. So if he said he also took a boat people would assume a longer trip.

As for the original question, it is definitely not buried. It would be way too difficult to find. It is covered by a rock though. It's why he says to bring gloves. The gloves will protect your hands and give you a better grip. Plluuuuss "tarry scant' aka blackened flat slab of rock.

I'm sitting in the blind WAITING and WATCHING - doubt I will get a shot off as I am still in training and just using a rubber ducky.

Speaking of birds flying... Wasn't there a hint in TTOTC concerning WWWH?

I'm sure it was a map no longer needed. There are still 8 more maps involved.

I believe the treasure is hidden and it can be found. Follow the clues in the poem precisely, and they will take you to the TC. Imo
