    • A Challenge. Who is good at Karaoke and can add these words to the music?

THE SEARCHER WENT DOWN THE CANYON

The searcher went down the canyon
He was lookin' for some gold to steal
      He was in a bind
      'Cause he was way behind
And he was willin' to make a deal
When he came across this young man
Sawin' on the riddle and playin' it hot
And the searcher jumped up on a hickory stump
And said, "boy, let me tell you what"
"I guess you didn't know it
But I'm a riddle player too
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you
Now you play a pretty good riddle, boy
But give this searcher his due
I'll bet a riddle of gold
      Against your gold
'Cause I think I'm better than you."
The boy said, "my name's LS
And it might be a sin
But I'll take your bet, you're gonna regret
'Cause I'm the best there's ever been."
LS, rosin up your know and play your riddle hard
Cause Hell's broke loose in this canyon, and the searcher deals the cards
And if you win, you get this shiny riddle made of gold
But you lose, the searcher gets the riddle and the gold
The searcher opened up his poem
And he said, "I'll start this show."
And fire flew from his writing hand
As he rosined up his know
And he pulled the know across the stanzas
And it made an evil hiss
Then a band of searchers joined in
And it sounded something like this
      When the searcher finished
LS said, "well, you're pretty good, ol' son
But sit down in that chair right there
And let me show you how it's done."
"Fire on the Mountain" run boys, run
The searchers in the House of the Rising Sun
Biddies in a bread pan pickin' out dough
Granny, does your wolf bite? No, child, no
      The searcher bowed his head
Because he knew that he'd been beat
And he laid that golden riddle
On the ground at LS’s feet
Ls said, "searcher, just come on back
If you ever wanna try again
I done told you once you son of a bitch
I'm the best that's ever been."
He played "Fire on the Mountain" run boys, run
The searchers in the House of the Rising Sun
The biddies in a bread pan pickin' out dough
Granny, will your wolf bite? No child, no

              • As we go BOTG in 2020 I think we all hope for that one moment in time.

All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
                -Winston Churchill

My of my favorites - always thot this was the PERFECT song for this quest.
I find myself humming it quite it often as I hike the backroads.
                  Wish I could sing.

Yes.....it is a race with Destiny.
                  Thanks for sharing.

                        • An all-time favorite. I remember having a babysitter when I was very small who loved Neal Diamond and Kenny Rogers. She played this, America, and the Gambler/Coward of the County on "repeat" (moving the record needle back haha)
