This is a good topic to discuss.
Well, by my own admission this is bear territory, so without a guide, I won't go beyond the entrance by the trailhead, as I don't quite understand the dangers that lurk from a jaunt in the wood. I have my eye on a flight, but It's still 50/50.

Well if you're undecided, I’d say go with the sight on the Forrest’s gun which was a wee bit off. This is the one which he let June shoot, before he took the gun for himself and buried it in the woods. After all, if the sights off, then you're bound to shoot anything in site. Alright, alright. The last part I made up because Forrest isn’t here to tell any more stories, and someone had to. Besides, it was probably just a made-up story anyways. Mine, not Forrest’s. Well, obviously Forrest’s was too, but mine was more like an addendum to the story. Well, not really an addendum, but more like an ending. Let’s be real here for a second and make that a happy ending. Yes, it’s also my last one (story, that is), because if I make up any more, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Oh yeah, Forrest said wwwh. Okay, could someone tell me how we got here again?

Well, just my opinion, and while a bear encounter is unlikely it can happen. They'll defend a carcass, and their young, and you don't want to surprise them in a close encounter.
There's been enough deaths and bad news in this Chase. Forrest was going to, or did, end the Chase because of it.

Let me ask you, whatever reasons you have to think a jar or bell is where you think, do you see anything in those reasons that might be "signs" to it as well as others? Something you might be able to use to find another spot without bears included? Without any other dangers, like steep and risky climbs, rough waters to cross, etc.?
This was my point, that maybe there are hints to how to find them.

Edit for a final note. The more people with you, the better. If you insist on going, you might try to organize a small group from the search community. And don't forget your bear spray.
Remember, should you encounter a bear, stand your ground, stand up and raise your arms over your head (makes you look bigger to them) and yell. Don't look them in the eye (a challenge to them), and don't run (even if you're with a slower guy). Make lots of noise, too.

Agreed. Don't make the bear cross, or that'll be your bear to cross.

Some think that becasue you have dealt with bears and or cats we know how they will act, but the truth is, they all have their own way about them. One will run away as the other makes you their prey.OR they will steal your sweets.

The 'trigger' fish bailed out early, shortly after it was hooked.

I should have listened to my Frog friend a couple of years ago. I was looking at land in the place where my heart lives the North Woods. I drove up there and had two places picked out.
Froggie told me to go for it and buy one. It was close to winter and I thought I would never have the time to get things set up before winter took over. Moving my things, my Bobcat, my travel trailer, and everything I had seemed like too much at the time. So I bought a house to flip and told myself I would work hard and sell and then move North. Needless to say, I have not moved up north and I regret it.

Ok ok, you sound a tad cross today, let me riffle through my travels and I'm sure something will turn up.

I took a chance when I hitchhiked from Boulder to Alaska with 9 bucks in my pocket. That was money well spent. I let the state flag be my guide and it never let me down.

Both the bounce and the stretch end up in dreamland. It's no coincidence, you cab ask Wild Bill Hickock.

                                That's not the point.
