I think a good solution to the poem is easily confirmed by cross referencing the abundance of factors provided by Forrest. It will all fit like a glove.

I think you're correct. One of my favorites is the "hand in pocket" gesture he frequently performed.
It's going to explain why f got punched in the nose!
Edit: And why y'all needed to get back in the box!!
Another edit: And why 22/bb is important to the story ... And why parking at his father sign was a big deal. This is kinda addicting. And then there's that old Underwood. LOL No one talks about the old Underwood.
Thanks Space!
Oh, and why that asterisk? ... you've got to find out to tell his story.
Punched on the bridge of the Nose.... Broken cement Bridge Number 5 on the Gibbon river.
Chili cook-off... Back to number 5

Agree, however I envision it more like a 'jigsaw puzzle'. Apologies for being so nit picky but gloves have been known to shrink over time.
Yes, I agree. The solution=A Story. What the poem (Solution) says would answer all the questions, as FF said. It would simply be the "Games Over". It appears to be a likely situation that the correct Poem Solution has not yet been posted by anyone.
IMO.
Ah, the story!!! Like most descriptive authors, Forrest sure did paint a pretty picture.

If you look at the palms of your hands you will see a W, and an M. Slip your hand into a glove....and there you have it.

Perhaps the horse-riding maverick thought that young Forrest called him a cow's boy, and the reference crossed him. That might explain the story's Royal Punch ending.

What is the bone part of the nose called? Bridge. Specifically, a broken bridge.

Maybe the reason it took so long to be solved is many do not have an open mind and could never see through another's eyes. You can show the chest in place and people will make up reasons it was not there. You can show how TTOTC fits like a glove, and you will have people tell you Nine Mile becasue someone needed cover. The people that know the truth want no part of it, and those who don't think they solved the poem. I know one guy who still thinks the great divide is wwwh near Centennial WY. Some people rather live a lie than admit Teachers with Ropes.

f was shocked when he learned the puzzle had been solved and the solver had no doubt [confidence]. He thought it would be many millennia before a correct solve and that he would take it with him by design. You might say he was so in awe of one, he wanted to look in his eyes to learn more.
Forrest was only interested in looking into one's mind's eye.
