Forrest did write those very words to start a 5-paragraph-long section in the "unexpurgated" version of Ramblings and Rumblings. It is particularly suspicious that this section was specifically cut from the R&R that Tony Dokoupil, Dal and others had many, many years ago. This section wasn't cut out by Dal or Tony -- Forrest apparently deliberately excluded it from them.
Even more eyebrow-raising is that Forrest ended the first (excised) paragraph with "Now millions of cars drive by within two hundred feet of the hole and don't know that it is one of the best fishing places in the whole wide world." (My colored bolding to emphasize some potentially quite relevant elements in light of Forrest's frequent comments about 200-foot searchers and the poem's WWWH.) Equally interesting (in light of the open-lid picture of the treasure chest presumably taken in June 2020) are these words from Forrest: "...And I keep the small twigs from that old tree in my bathroom drawer as reminders of some of the best days of my life." The tree in question is a pine that was on the north bank of the Madison at 9MH and had snagged many of Forrest's flies on his back cast over the years. By 2001 it had fallen, and was resting parallel to the river. Proponents of the 9MH location might sensibly suggest that the twig inside the chest did not fall there by chance, nor was it put there by Jack (or whomever), but instead may have been pulled from Forrest's bathroom drawer and in reverence placed there atop the treasure by Forrest when he hid the chest.
All that said, if the treasure chest was hidden anywhere near 9MH, this was a truly terrible treasure hunt. But I still cannot ignore that the lighting/shadows that would be present at the location Rudy and all the 9MHers favor can never match what is seen in the open-chest image with the twig and rusted key: the sun is never in that part of the sky. So as much as Forrest clearly liked Nine Mile Hole, the in situ pictures of the chest were taken someplace else.
I will warn that because of excerpts from the unedited R&R that I have included in this post, this thread could very well get deleted by KPro. So if you want to preserve a copy, I recommend cutting and pasting it ASAP.If you don’t want to do that, please go out someplace and plant a tree. f

Why would FF do the chase at all then?
If he wants the site protected why even mention it?
You don't make any sense.

Here is a suggestion.... I bring in a quote from Zapster from 2-25-23. Link: https://www.hintofriches.com/forum/t...189#post493189
Here is the comment:
From the context of Forrest's statement, he doesn't come out and say that anyone had figured out all nine clues, let alone figured them out in the correct order. Here is my transcript of Forrest's answer from "The Lure" post-screening Q&A (5/18/2017):
Q: “Has anyone determined the nine clues and what they represent?”
FF: “Well, there’s about 250,000 people that think they have. And, uh, I don’t know that anybody has … has … has told me the clues in the right order. I think that part of the problem is they don’t … they don’t focus on the first clue. If you don’t know where the first clue is, you might as well stay home because you’re not … you’re not going to find the treasure chest. You can’t go out looking for the blaze and expect to find the treasure chest. There’s ten billion blazes out there. So you have to start with the first clue and let it take you to the blaze.”
So the suggestion is.......take the 200/500 topic of this thread...and solve for the blaze with this quote.... Prove the one out of 10 billion....that will give this thread credibility......mo betta.....crediba....

I'm sure that shadow analysis was wrong. I haven't even bothered to look at it because I don't think he even has the right directions of the logs.

No need to fret Zapster, the situ pictures were taken south of a river, just the opposite as they want us to believe.

My degree is in optical engineering, I'm an aerospace engineer, and the statistical likelihood is that no one on this blog knows more about astronomy (which includes solar geometry) than I do.

IMO (only-no proof), the stick in the photo did not come from a tree near NMH, though it’s possible it was kept in a drawer for a time, represented some memory ‘event’, and was meant to indicate partial signum in the photo (whether physically present or photoshopped in is irrelevant, as is the actual chest’s ‘authenticity’ and location the photos were taken.)
The rumor that “Rudy’s log” has been displaced/ vandalised, the manufacture of printed sticks, and the lengthy time it took to take a simple shoe picture all seem like further evidence pro-NMH evidence can’t be delivered. But it’s distraction that serves some purpose maybe? In any case, I don’t see the point there.
Wonder what became of those 2 repeater watches? Do you (with your phenomenal documentation skills) know if he said the chest may have held a ‘book of days’ or a ‘book of hours’? I’ve been repeating both in my mind and can’t remember which is authentic.

(Edit: And by the way, y'all, I don't think anyone is looking at that 200'/500' stuff right. It's the same 200' as that odd "below 10,200'" parameter as well as his "200' into the teeth of the Rockies" comment -- they are all hints toward that sentence in "My War For Me" where he's heading up the canyon into the sun.)Last edited by Gunrunner; 05-21-2023, 10:35 AM.
