And with that freedom I see them as you do. Example Something: what a great song. Lyrics are great. Great theme. But that bassline though. Absolutely one of the best basslines i've ever heard. That puts the whole song together and makes it transcend and there's no way George heard that when he strummed it out for himself the first time. But Paul probably heard it as soon as George played it for the guys the first time. This is what I'm telling my son right now. He's got some killer lyrics and melodies, and I'm telling him, just let go now, and let your mates finish for you. You gotta be frontman and start writing the next one. Learn to stay in your lane. They hear differently than he does, and I trust their judgement now too. They are definitely "more than a sum" already, and they're doing the Hamburg stage right now, simulated by the fact they are all doing 40hr/wk day jobs at the same time as playing clubs all weekend nights.
Anyway I see your overlooked George, and I raise you Jeff Lynne, one of his best mates, and another overlooked genius behind the scenes.
Jeff Lynne . . . a superb musician, lyricist, music arranger, and overall creative force in music. And you're right, hardly topped by any other musician when considering his overall abilities. But there are a few that get my vote alongside him, like Boston's Tom Scholz and Brad Delp. Dependent on musical styles, one type of music may be preferred over the other , but they both have there unique nuances that drive their music over the edge and cut to the heart of one's soul. "More Than A Feeling" is a great example and gets me dancing every time. To be honest, it's best that I do the dancing by myself though. I wouldn't want others to witness something that's better off left in private, lol.

Oh my! Are you aware of how the treasure is found in EAP's The Gold Bug?
I'll have to read it fully if I can find a copy, but Wikipedia says a weight suspended from an eye socket of a human skull was involved. As to the poetry: yes, Poe was a man of many talents.
Most people recall Poe as a writer, but few recall his contributions to the field of quantum mechanics. The result of his efforts was not realized in his lifetime, due to the poor quality of 19th century prefabulated Amulite. The so-called "Poe Theorem", stated in Alpha-Hexidecimal terms is as follows:

Good luck finding that in this mess!
. . . unless you're looking for it's ohm value. Then the river current gets really strong.
Oh, give me a home, where the buffalo roam
Where the frogs and the froggies all play
Where seldom is heard, a discouragin' word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
Home, home on the range
Where good luck and them horseshoes are played
Where seldom is heard, a discouragin' word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
How often at night, when the heavens are bright,
With the lights from the glitterin' stars,
Have I stood here amazed, and asked as I gazed
If their glory exceeds that of ours?
Oh, give me a land, where the bright diamond sand
Flows leisurely down the stream
Where the graceful white swan goes gliding along
Like a maid in a heavenly dream
Then, I would not exchange my home on the range
Or where the frogs and the horsies, they stay
