  • Shiloh Heard It First Hand...

    As Goldilocks just pointed out, Shi Guy said;

"My grandfather wanted to keep the chest’s location secret even after it had been found because he feared that, if the location became known, it could be ruined by the number of people who might attempt to go to the site. The location was very special to my grandfather, and the last thing he wanted was to see it destroyed, either innocently or through malicious intent."

So, if anyone is expecting the location to be released, you best cancel any celebration you had planned.

Only way to find it is solve that lovely puzzle...

    Now, where do we begin...

The phrase "number of people who might attempt to go to the site". Makes it sound like public land that is not accessible to general public. DO NOT TOUCH=DO NOT ENTER. Where if to many people try to go there. The site will be demolished to keep people away. Using the word destroyed is very peculiar if it was just a general location in the woods. Forrest always said it was up to the finder what happened after he hid it. It seemed as it was suppose to become public and glorified when this started. Why would he change his mind?

The 9 mile holers proved shilohs statement to be 100% correct! People will find a way to ruin every thing good under the sun. Forrest really did try to think of everything and his wisdom is showing! Rest his soul. We did not deserve that man. Thank you Forrest.

Space Hopper And here's me believing Forrest produced a video explaining the clues, or so I read somewhere.

Prolly a couple of versions, but the safest bet might be the 9MH one...

Baloney. Forrest said more than once that he didn’t care if the solution or location were revealed. He left it up to the finder. Period, end of story.
The family has said several things since Forrest’s passing that don’t ring true. Don’t believe it.

Your solve is awesome that it has 2 ocean pass in it. I first started looking in that area over Thanksgiving weekend 2019. I went South though when I should have gone North. My bad.

thank you for sharing that quote

when a few too many people are prone to exaggeration and lies, it can be helpful to consider certain facts to help see things more clearly

after the treasure was found, after 10 years and many many searchers waiting and hoping to hear some detail about where it was found and what the clues meant, Forrest in consultation with the finder decided not to reveal anything except the state

the intention of f not sharing these secrets to understanding the clues can again be seen in that the solution was not explained in the olive jar

there is another active thread right now that references the quote in a video interview where f says the solve was in his head. he would never write it down.

now compare this to a thread involving person X Y and Z, X being KPRO, where person Y&Z claim there is a video of f detailing the solve

so in consideration of the things listed here which are documented, and one which is not, does one of these seem like bullsh*T? let the reader decide

Just more disinformation from the Fenn Disinformation and Propaganda Committee. Nobody in the world, especially Fenn, is stupid enough to think a nationwide treasure hunt would not reveal the location it was found at. Only an idiot wouldn't tell the story of how and where they found it. Well, I guess they found an idiot to play the role of finder at least. The chest is till out there and it will be revealed. Even Fenn said everything will be revealed eventually, when the real finder finally finds the real chest.

this is a valid point but i think we should consider that it was true at the time and under certain assumptions

what has changed is that the treasure was found and certain assumption that were supposed to come with the finding, didn't happen

from my point of view, it seemed obvious to me f was disappointed for some reason around the time of the finding, but he was also in spite of that, being his usual gracious self about the find and toward the finder

my conclusion about this ultimately comes from the lack of things Jack was saying, and vague things and hard to resolve with f's comments things, that jack was saying.

there was a reasonable expectation i would have about what we would be hearing from a finder who had figured the location from understanding the clues to the extent that f had expected a finder would need to, and I don't think we ever heard anything resembling that

my conclusion is f was disappointed when he understood enough about jack and the find, to realize the primary reason for finding the chest did not rest on an understanding of the clues that pointed an arrow more precisely. Jack had deduced a general area and the rest was searching.

f may have been OK with the solve being revealed, i think, because the assumption would be the clues had been unlocked and solved by somebody to have found the treasure

if i was Forrest, i can see how much of a huge difference it would make, if it turns out that the treasure was found, but the thing he worked on for years, the poem and clues upon which the whole treasure hunt rested still remained undiscovered, and the idea that no one had even discovered and now it was just going to be revealed to everyone for free, with not even the finder understanding the secrets to the clues that had been worked on and hidden for so many years

i think this was not at all what f expected. and now the motive to keeping it secret even after the find was very clear. i dont think we should be convinced it was as strong a desire to keep it under wraps from jack, as it was from f. i dont know what jack felt about it, but my opinion is very much that f wanted it after the find, maybe not before. jack may have wanted that too but at the least he would have gone along with what f wanted
