  • The harvest moon

    September 10th, 2002 at 3:58 a.m in Wyoming
    No further intentions. Just nice.

Under the Harvest Moon, by Carl Sandburg

    Under the harvest moon,
    When the soft silver
    Drips shimmering
    Over the garden nights,
    Death, the gray mocker,
    Comes and whispers to you
    As a beautiful friend
    Who remembers.

    Under the summer roses
    When the flagrant crimson
    Lurks in the dusk
    Of the wild red leaves,
    Love, with little hands,
    Comes and touches you
    With a thousand memories,
    And asks you
    Beautiful, unanswerable questions.

    Harvest Moon
    by Neil Young

    Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
    Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away

But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night

Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
    On this harvest moon

    When we were strangers
    I watched you from afar
    When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart

    But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
    I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye

Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
    On this harvest moon

Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
    On this harvest moon

Aww [email protected] Thanks for the walk down memory lane... As a child I read the Rootabaga Stories from Carl Sandburg! It was a Christmas gift from my parents... The book actually just came back to me recently after being gone for many years... Guess I should go read it again!

        Hey,
        Harvest Wolf Moon
        by trueyeti

Once, one time at band camp
        I met this fine woman
and we walked in the garden
        and had dinner
        and drank the wine

And we strolled though the garden again
        And the moon was full
And the scent of flowers lighted the evening air
And we spread the blanket upon the cool grass

And the tenderness of love's kisses
        rested upon my cheek
        and upon her neck
And then the moon came out from behind a cloud

And the woman's beauty did shine
with the moonlight upon her face
And I spoke to her... a gentle whisper
that it is dangerous to love in the moonlight

        And she gently giggled
        and asked me why
        and I sighed - a sigh
        and began to change

        Into a Wolf-man
As - I was changed by the moon
        And then her horror
        did turn to rapture

        As we both howled
        at the moon
        in the garden
        on the grass

        And she was a Wolf-Woman
        And I was a Wolf-man
        Bathed in the moonlight
and scented by the fragrant aroma of flowers
In the garden - and under - the harvest moon
        -fin hehehe

                Hey B,
haha... I'm not with notational knowledge to much extent, but here goes nothing....

                Running together…then she ran away
Now I’m lonely at night… and in the light of the day

The woman I love… the Wolf of the bane…..
the constant pain….bout to drive me insane

No moon-all alone…. My lady is gone
Lonely night blues….all wet in the rain

Why can’t we harvest the treasure(s)
                  wearing a crimson coat?

                  When the flagrant crimson
                  Lurks in the dusk
                  Of the wild red leaves,….

It's like you're tied to the whipping post (the mixed memories of a toxic relationship),
and oh Lord, it feels like you're dying (it's consuming your life).

Maybe you're just a lonesome 'ol coyote, and the right loba hasn't taken you in yet?
                    Giddyup cowboy.

                      Hey B,
Yeah yeah yeah... its true, its true. But IMO... it is more like "The Summer Wind."
