  • Missing Jack Stuef Letter

    Hello Everyone,

I was trying to find a letter written by Jack Stuef when he first claimed to have found the chest. In it he stated that he found it, then left the scene to go call Forrest to ask his permission to take it. I can't find it since Dal's site went down and I suspect Jack has scrubbed it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I don't really recall where he actually said it, I just recall that he did say it and that claim has been verified in a youtube video I watched.
Just wondering if anyone knew where the original could be found.

There was an early Medium article post-find that was authored by the anonymous finder. Seems like it was DP that brought it to our attention and some speculated that it was really by DP or possibly by Forrest or Shiloh. It disappeared after Forrest passed and was replaced by the “Jack” letter. At least that’s what I recall.

I didn’t see it in the Remembrance Medium Article. Did find it in this NY Post Article, Says he emailed Forrest and Forrest called him back.

I recall in a later article where Jack posted q and a about the find, that he said he left the tc in situ and went to his hotel to drink some wine. If I remember correctly, he also said he slept in the next morning before retrieving the tc.

Thanks for the reply and Info!

I suspect that Jack made up the reason he called Forrest, after having made the original statement, to cover for the real reason he said it.
That is why I was looking for the original article. It seems to have been scrubbed.

If anyone had copied it and could paste it here that would be great. I believe it was the Medium article by the anonymous finder originally believed to have been written by Doug Preston.

              Thanks Again!

Janus 8- those were confusing times within my memory bank. When I read that Jack slept in after over indulging in a bottle of Opus 1, I assume, my head almost exploded. Over the next few months I will be going over my notes of that jarring event and will keep this post and you in mind. I’m sure the answer must be hidden there, somewhere.

No matter the facts, it has not been an easy road for Mr Jack.

The ups and downs of the chase can take a toll on anyone.
