  • Madison River Footbridge Photos (1935)

This footbridge was located somewhere along the Madison River, between Madison Junction and West Yellowstone.

I was not able to pinpoint a more precise location, with confidence. All three photos are dated September 27, 1935.

I'm just posting them here for general interest. It's fun to see the Madison as Forrest did when he was a child.

Apparently it was right where the telegraph line crossed if you can locate that. I know I've seen mention of poles in the area... somewhere. May be a few still standing, or some insulators scattered around. Nice find.

Awesome! I found this evidence of a footbridge location (I've recently created this site to archive the info we've turned up): https://sites.google.com/view/madiso...ver-footbridge

It fits into my most recent solve: https://sites.google.com/view/forrestfenn

I will check out Google Earth to see if the terrain matches to that location also (because maybe there was more than one footbridge).

I am sure he remembers that bridge. So what was said. O thee of little faith. Or my hint is a temple go there. He tried to help her. Maybe.

Hey Ryan, that's a cool site! Here are a few more old photos that you may like -- a couple of the Madison Gaging Station and a couple of the Lookout

Very cool photos. Couldn’t help but think about the Barns Hole area where the old cable car run operated. That would make sense based on the telephone poles.

Those are great! Where did you get the photos from? Can I include them in the site? I'd attribute you as the source, of course.

I think that footbridge may have been at 7-mile Bridge based on comparable Google Earth images, and the likelihood that there was probably a bridge there. Check the comparison here: https://imgur.com/a/n570OJj

However it looks like there was already a vehicle bridge there, so maybe that doesn't make sense.

Edit: I'm going ahead and putting them up (here), but just let me know if you'd rather me take them down. Thanks!
