Sorry, I know this is not Fenn related- Kpro
im working with doctors in LA to prototype handmade masks with a “filter”.
The material we have thought about are these:
(many of searchers are smart and many of you lurkers are smarter.)
I have scientists in la and Beijing who will start particulate testing this week but if y’all know of any large scale applications and or/ household applications for what I’m mentioned please tell me.
all of these could be layered with cotton to help in a medical profession once we are out of masks.
yes- ICU are already out- I’ve seen the pleas and it’s terrifying

what we are looking for are called nonwoven polypropylene microfiber that is spunbond...
what we need and what n95 masks are made of is called Meltblown. The entire world cannot get meltblown- two manufacturer’s 3M and Berry Global are trying to buy and make the machines to make the fabric. But you know of any other applications that nonwoven materials are used in us manufacturing- we need yardage- we have a production sewing facility La to start once the testing is done. Thanks so much-

    industrial fryer filters
    nonwoven landscaping cloth
    coffee filters
    light filtering window shade
    shop towels- blue kind
    embroidery stabilizer
    interfacing
    air intake vent filter
    merv rated filter paper
    whatman filter paper
swiffer floor wipe- electrostatic is a huge bonus -

      Yes, this is good-
the only issue is that we can’t find many- stores have low stocks
Nursing Pads were used in Wuhan inside a surgical mask

How about a thinner form of Tyvex that is use in wrapping homes during construction?

                  its been discussed

I should add- if we find the material- we can get large donations as well. Money is not an issue right now

What about vacuum filters? (Shop vacs and Dustbusters for example)

Can someone make a mask nose bridge with two layers of hvac tape? This is another idea and I cannot leave my house to test. It needs to be heavy duty- in mass production, could a piece of hvac tape pinch together to form across a nose bridge? We don’t have access to the aluminum strips used in the n95 mask-
we have a paper clip proto- yes we have an engineer who make a paper clip solution ! Lol-

Also it seems like weedblock fabric could be a huge source but I don’t know if it meets your specs exactly.

I don't know anything at all, just wondering.
Yes, but can we find 100k + in a few days? Charcoal is more for odors but it can be helpful-
we are looking for an 80% efficiency- a cotton mask is at 40-50%
and a n95 surgical mask is at 95%
