If imagination is so important, why don't we have a branch for it?

    Do you prefer hickory?
    Yew are so funny, Costello.

          • HIGH FLIGHT
            John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings.
            Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things you have not dreamed of;
Wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence.
Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace where never lark, or even eagle flew,
And while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

                      • fenn mentioned "swivet" --
swivet = PANic, yet another Greek reference
"hear me ALL" in poem = an incantation to Pan
fenn statue of GOAT = Pan reference
end ever drawing nigh = the horn of Pan the goat-god expands ever outward
(of course at a GOLDEN RATIO -- Fibonacci # rate of acceleration -- https://fibonacci.com/animals/)
fenn's treasure = the HORN of plenty, given to PAN, then transferred into the STARS

so many pics of "beside the fire" referencing where one keeps a PAN (out of the frying pan into the fire)
many seminal/priapal allusions in f's poem -- Pan was a priapal god, thrice horned
all the gnostic / hermetic references tie in to this line of reasoning
chaos is induced by pan(ic), preceeded by Bacchus
want the SOLVE? (don't forget to "come together" after you find it ...)

                            • "If music be the food of love play on ... "

                              - Twelfth Night

As Christmas season is soon upon us, and sew two the feast of Epiphany,
I thoth the above an appropriate quote to reflect upon --

If music is indeed the food of love,
and Fenn's Chase is fed by THOUGHT
("If a searcher will THINK he can find my treasure.")
how can we reconcile the two?

Music, thinking, inspiration to solve nine clues ...
this brings to my mind the nine muses.

While there is no one muse distinctly dedicated to "Thinking" (which would most accurately be coined "philosophy" -- a return to love, as it were),
quite interestingly, the ancient masters deemed the art of "thinking" as a subset of "music" ...

I've often connected the muses to the Chase, as the central theme for me is ART,
and let's not forget the 9 clues / 9 muse connection.

At times I've even looked at the Gypsies Illustrated in TTOTC as muses of sorts,
guides that will fill a searcher with inspiration to find the treasure.

"Thinking" so often gets compartmentalized as "rational" and somewhat "dry" --
but when we trace thinking back to its origins, we find roots deeply set in MUSIC.
Music, of course, feels like a less rational and more ethereal/emotional realm.

It's interesting to me to explore connecting these two seemingly disparate spheres --
if we wed "thought" to "music" -- to me this becomes the realm of IMAGINATION --
a type of thinking more guided by the gut than a mere brain in a vat.
in this sense, perhaps Imagination is not "magical thinking" so much as ...
"musical thinking" -- did Einstein listen to Mozart as he worked?

Sew it seems, in Wonderland, if music be the food of love, "think on" ...
wood also apply. Thinking, carried aloft on the wings of Fancy.

Click image for larger version Name:	wings of fancy.jpg Views:	3 Size:	300.0 KB ID:	225571

And let's not forget all the Hermetic references in Fenn's work,
As Above So Below being but one.

                              Hermes, of course = Thoth

If we're working to elevate our thoughts on the wings of fancy,
it seems some sacrifice must be made ...

                              https://www.sustainability-times.com...ustrial-scale/

How's that for ... Food for Thoth?

and when considering the Ibis as a blood-sacrifice, my mind jumps to
the color Scarlet, and then ff's child-like DOODLES ...
