      The leading piece, the leader, was a pitcher, with 9 (of something; in this case, inches in height)

      Dizzy Dean was a pitcher. Dizzy Dean has 9 of something, too: clues.

      Once Upon a While, Revised Edition, includes the story of Dizzy Dean.

            I'm not very good at anagrams if they involve more than one word. I did notice that cultures anagrams to "clue rust". There's the rusty fire escape and his dog Rusty.

              I think F is telling someone to follow their nose. I'm probably wrong. That's just my imagination talking.

                “When my trowel found this woman, she was resting supine in the volcanic ash-like dirt.”

                But tarry scant with marvel gaze.

                But = move
                tarry = black
                scant = little
                marvel = marble
                gaze = glaze

                Move black little glazed marble = volcanic ash-like dirt.

                    Nice anagram, Redneck Girl. Don’t sell your own abilities short. You’re correct the anagram is: related rust clue or rust related clue.

                      I thought it interesting that when talking about the Alexandra painting he referred to the bottom right scratch, as if he were facing her. When talking about the Peruvian statue wearing a headdress he said right side inlaid, as if he were looking out through the object's eyes. Probably meaningless, just an aberration.

                        Singua translates to “without water”
                        Just in case you need a bit of confusion.
